1. Set up the game: Place the game board in the center of the playing area. Shuffle the deck of cards and place it face down next to the board. Each player chooses a colored pawn and places it on the starting space indicated on the board.
2. Determine the youngest player to go first. Play proceeds in a clockwise direction.
3. On your turn, draw the top card from the deck. The card will show a specific location on the board where the water might be hidden.
